LOCK-DECK laminated decking is the original structural glue-laminated timber decking material. Developed in the mid-1950's, it quickly became the standard of the industry. Today, LOCK-DECK laminated decking continues to be the first choice when the natural beauty of wood or the structural integrity of a timber system is called upon to distinguish a design.
LOCK-DECK is a structurally engineered product consisting of 3 to 5 laminations of kiln-dried 4/4 lumber, selected for strength and appearance. They are bonded together with an exterior type waterproof adhesive; cured under pressure using high frequency electronics in a radio frequency (RF) press. Center laminations are offset and machined to form a tongue and groove on both edges (center match) and the ends (end match) of the pieces. The result is a product of high strength, dimensional stability, and superior appearance.

Moisture Content:
Supreme. The highest grade of LOCK-DECK. Recommended where the ultimate in fine appearance is desired. This grade is manufactured with a "clear" face. Occasional pieces may contain a small knot or minor characteristics that do not detract from the overall appearance.
Decorative. The most popular grade of LOCK-DECK. Recommended where an attractive appearance of sound knots and natural characteristics is desired. Occasional pieces may contain chipped edge knots, short end splits or seasoning check, and some pin holes.
Service. The rustic grade of LOCK-DECK. Recommended for industrial applications where strength is more important than appearance. Available on inquiry, this grade allows face knot holes, stain, end splits, skip, roller split, planer burn and other non-strength reducing characteristics.LOCK-DECK Quality Control
The quality of LOCK-DECK laminated decking is assured by continuous full-time monitoring of lumber size, moisture content and glue bond integrity. Frequent quality checks are made to ensure correct glue spread, assembly time, pressing time and cure of adhesives. Glueline test samples are cut daily and subjected to a standard durability test to determine glueline integrity.
